Our Ministers

About Garth

As a volunteer, Garth has led many Education and Awareness Tours for St. Stephen’s College and for the Centre for Christian Studies. (He’ll be leading one to Africa this year.) In the congregational setting, Garth has given leadership in Stewardship, Board development and strategic planning. Dorothy has done work in staff team development and conflict resolution. Both believe that theology must be expressed, and the Bible studied, in ways that relate to life as it is lived today in the world.
They have three grown children who live in Calgary, Portland OR and Ottawa.

After Dorothy’s graduation from the United Church Training School (now the Centre for Christian Studies) and Garth’s graduation from Pine Hill Divinity Hall in Halifax, the United Church in its wisdom designated/ordained them and sent them both to Saint John NB.. Since then, they have been in ministry in Massachusetts (while Garth was in graduate school in Boston); in Cobourg ON; in Edmonton where Dorothy served several congregations while Garth was principal of St. Stephen’s College; in Medicine Hat (Dorothy); and five congregations in Calgary, mostly as interim ministers.
